MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDER:

Fellow Legionnaires, with the excitement and distractions of the holidays, let’s regroup and focus on our task ahead…the program of our American Legion 5th District. As you know, our Boys State Program kicks off January 9, 2008, with the orientation of each participating Post’s leader or chairman. They have been informed of the location and time. Next, on January 13, 2008, our District Oratorical Contest will take place at Post 21, starting at 2:00 PM. Your support of these and other programs is encouraged.

DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP:

As of the December 17th  report from Department Headquarters, the 5th District has now fallen to ninth place with 80.40% of goal, and Zone II is still in second place with 80.47%.  The District now has four Posts at 100%, Post 8, Post 76, Post 80 and Post 124.

FUN FACT:

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts… So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them “Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down.” That’s where we get the phrase…”mind your P’s and Q’s”.
